Young Lions Skills Acquisition Program Overview

The Young Lions Skills Acquisition Program (YLSAP) has been established in support of the new FFA National Football Curriculum and preferred pathways by KLUFC as the only National Premier League (NPL) club in the Southern Region. The program is open to female and male players born in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 playing with Southern school or club teams

The program focuses on developing the four core skills (first touch, striking the ball, running with the ball and 1 v 1) and these form the teaching platforms that the Football Federation Australia (FFA) National Football Curriculum outlines.
A key aim of the program is to perfect and accelerate the skill development of identified players at the critical junior ages. Players continue to play with their own school or club on weekends.
The technical and operational aspects of the program are managed by KLUFC, all coaching staff are or are working towards FFA coach accreditation and the program is fully supported by Football Federation Tasmania (FFT) under their State SAP licence program, providing technical support and guidance when required.
