Vale Bernard Siggins

It is with great sadness that the Kingborough Lions United Football Club informs its members of the passing of club legend Bernie Siggins.

Bernie was without doubt a true legend. Not only can both the Caledonians and Kingborough Lions United Football Clubs truly attest to this, but the wider Football community. Those who knew Bernie could not help to be impacted on by his infectious personality and enthusiasm for life.... particularly Football. I am sure that many a person in Tasmanian football will be sharing a story about Bernie tonight.

We here at Kingborough now have a huge hole in our hearts... mainly because of how dearly we held Bernie in them. But we also have a history and a legacy left by him that can never be taken away. No job was too small or unimportant when it came to the club for Bernie. Washing strips, cleaning drink bottles, cooking for the boys, offering advice to match officials... Bernie took it all on with a sense of club and a sense of pride. Even over the past 12 months when he wasn't able to be actively involved in the club his attendance at games and functions was a boost to everyone.

We will miss so much about Bernie. His passionate rendition of the club song was legendary, whether after a Lions Victory or leading the Youth of the club at the Youth Presentation dinner but we will probably miss most his presence. He lit up the room for both adults and kids at our club. I'll miss him, my kids will miss him, the club will miss him but never forget him.

We wish Pattie and the family our deepest sympathies on the loss of a husband, father and devoted grandfather. We thank them dearly for sharing Bernie with us.....we know we took a fair share of his time!!

Rest in Peace Bernie
