Kingborough Lions UFC appoint Mark Broadbent as Head Coach

Kingborough Lions United FC  has confirmed that Mark Broadbent is set to move from the current caretaker role to permanent NPL coach for 2018 and 2019.

Broadbent is in his second season with the Lions, commencing the 2016 pre-season as Head Youth Academy Coach. He has been responsible for coaching the top Youth Academy stream and working with the other Academy coaches to provide a strong foundation for the program. He came to KLUFC as a home-grown Tassie coach evolving from the local playing ranks.

The club has greatly benefitted from his experience as a coach educator.  He is highly qualified and respected and as such KLUFC has had no hesitation in having him step up as interim NPL coach both in 2016 and 2017.  His qualifications include FFA Advanced 'A' Licence and Advanced Goalkeeping Licence accompanied with 20 plus years of coaching experience.

“Mark's coaching knowledge and depth of experience and willingness to take on the caretaker position were key considerations in making this decision.  He has delivered coaching expertise and leadership to the Club's Youth Academy program and has demonstrated his capacity in the Mens High Performance Program”,
says KLUFC Technical Director, Simon Edwards,
“Broadbent has proven that he can provide focus and stability to the playing during difficult transition periods.   Mark and I have mapped out the objectives for our Youth Academy and NPL programs for next season. Mark will continue with his role in the U16/18 Academy and will be streamlining the transition into senior football for our academy players as well as continuing to mentor our coaches”.

The early appointment of Broadbent will give confidence to the playing group and coaching staff for the rest of this season working into the preseason, with Broadbent looking to lock down the High Performance squad in 2017 for the 2018 Season.

“Our commitment is to our players, community, sponsors and football development in the region. We maintain focussed on our junior and youth development programs, continual improvement of our high performance senior programs, facilities and coach development in the region. We believe that Mark Broadbent is aligned with these goals and has demonstrated over the past 2 years his commitment to providing stability to Kingborough Lions FC” , says KLUFC President, Warren Iles.
