Kingborough Lions are ready to roar in 2017

New coach Gabriel Markaj has pulled off another exciting signing with Benny Kovadio. Benny has a passion for the game that is contagious and we believe he will have A-League clubs knocking on his door after this year's season at The Den.

Being a young boy in the African nation of Ivory Coast Benny could be seen kicking a plastic bottle when balls weren't available and to this day he spends more time on the training park than at home.

Kovadio has played for amateur and NPL clubs in Western Australia where he has achieved many personal goals. He has chosen to come to Tasmania for a complete change of scene and habit where he will hand the next stage of development over to Markaj.

When asked about this latest recruit, Coach Markaj says

“Benny is a game changer. He is a top quality player that is quick and strong. He has spectacular technique and tactical awareness and it is an honour to have a player of this calibre in my squad.”

Benny has already had a significant impact on attitude and intensity within the Lions' 2017 NPL squad and this has not gone unnoticed by Technical Director Simon Edwards

“It is exciting to have players with such a  professional outlook working at the club to drive success and the Club is very happy to be able to help them progress their football journey. In addition the quality and skill they bring to the playing group is outstanding and the Tasmanian football community will enjoy watching these lads play and impact the NPL competition …. and we expect junior and youth players will be inspired by their abilities.”

Kovadio joins several interstate and international players at The Den in 2017 and all are united in their desire to win and entertain. Club President, Warren Iles, has warmly embraced these squad changes with a deep and sincere welcome,

“it is great to have players who are looking to make a mark for themselves on the Tasmanian Soccer scene.  I am looking forward to them being able to have an impact at Senior Level.”

Kingborough Lions extends a warm welcome to Benny Kovadio for NPL season 2017. Roar with the Pride!
