Hanna Manuela Returns to the Den

The Kingborough Lions United Football Club is thrilled to announce Hanna Manuela has returned to the Club and will play a big part in the Lions 2019 Womens Super League campaign.

Hanna started her football journey at Blackmans Bay Devils in 1999 then played her Junior football with the Lions, being selected for the Tasmanian State team in 2004. A move to South Hobart FC then saw Hanna play 5 seasons during which she represented Tasmania again. In her last year at South she won the Best& Fairest and Players Player at the club and was the 2009 Vic Tuting winner. Hanna also refereed from 2003 to 2011, going to Coffs as a State representative in 2006 and was an AR in the 2010 A-League match between Melbourne Victory and the Central Coast Mariners at Aurora Stadium.

In 2010 Hanna moved to Taroona FC where she served the club for 9 years. During this time she represented Tasmania on numerous occasions.

“I am committed to a high standard of football and training ”, Hanna said, “and want to be working with committed footballers in an environment that supports female footballers (the same way the men are supported) … an environment which the Lions will provide. ”

“Hanna is an inspiration to other athletes – her work to recover from her knee injury going into last season was remarkable and I am excited to have a player with her skills and experience joining our young squad. She has already displayed a high level of commitment shown in training and preparation.”, said WSL Head Coach Simon Edwards, “Hanna will provide strength to our defensive structure, and deliver excellent role modelling and leadership on and off the park.”

The Club appreciates the continuing support of the Female Program sponsors StLukes Health, Tassal and Unica Wealth Management into the 2019 season.
