Academy Camp 2018

About the Program

Players aspiring to play at the highest level in Tasmania and beyond have an opportunity to do so through the Club's Academy program provided for talented and dedicated youth boys and girls. The program started in 2015 in recognition that youth players aspiring to play at the National Premier League (boys) or Womens Super League (girls) level in the future need development all year round to achieve their full playing potential.  The club welcomes youth players at all levels and also provides opportunities for players unable to commit to the extra academy training.

The Academy program has been developed inline with the FFA NPL Youth Academy guidelines to ensure the program is consistently delivered by coaches meeting the FFA Accreditation requirements for NPL clubs. This includes ensuring Academy Coaches have attained (or are in the process of attaining) a FFA Youth C Licence as a minimum.

The program aims to develop youth players in line with the club's vision and philosophy, resulting in players with a good understanding of team and player tasks and the skills to execute these well. The Youth Academy also work on other important areas including:

  • Further development of Core Skills

  • dedicated Stream for Goalkeepers

  • Preparation of players for senior football by teaching them to apply the functional game skills in a team setting

  • Develop tactical awareness, perception and decision-making through a game-related approach to training

  • Develop personal and social skills

  • Enhance players Wellbeing

Players are expected to show:

  • self motivated commitment to football (training and playing)
  • focus and concentration
  • development of game intelligence, ball and body control
  • development a winning mentality to aid their development
  • respect and support of others

Program fees for players undertaking Academy are additional to annual Club registration fees.  Players committing to the Youth Academy program must play for KLUFC in season.
